Baku – APA. A white police officer, Michael Slager, convicted of killing a black man in the US has been arrested.
An amateur video of the incident was played at the court. It showed the police officer shooting eight times at the back of a 50-year-old black man who was running away after a traffic stop and died at the scene, APA reported citing Reuters.
The officer said in the report that the driver used an electroshock weapon against him. However, the video does not show that.
The family plans to file a civil rights suit against Slager, the department and the city. The FBI and the U.S. Justice Department have already launched a separate investigation into the fatal shooting.
Note that, the incident took place in North Charleston city on April 4.
