President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the credentials of the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ireland Brendan Ward.

During the meeting, the sides noted that there was good potential for the expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ireland in the economic sphere. The parties exchanged views over the issues related to trade, investment making, joint projects, development of ties in other fields and implementation of work in these directions.
Touching upon the First European Games in Baku, the Ambassador informed President Ilham Aliyev about Irish athletes` preparations for the Games.

Stressing the importance of the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, the head of state said that there was ample potential for this. President Ilham Aliyev noted the significance of reciprocal visits at different levels in terms of the strengthening of the ties. Touching upon the cooperation in the economic sphere, the head of state underlined the role of the expansion of relations on this front in terms of the development of bilateral relations.
President Ilham Aliyev said cooperation with the Latin American countries was one of the priority directions of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy and wished the Ambassador success in his activity.
Ambassador Humberto Vinueza Rodriguez conveyed greetings on behalf of President of Ecuador Rafael Correa to the head of state. The Ambassador said he would spare no efforts to contribute to developing bilateral relations between the two countries during his diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views over oil and gas, investment making, cultural ties, mutual support in international organizations and other issues.
The head of state thanked for the greetings of President Rafael Correa, and asked the Ambassador to communicate his greetings to the Ecuadorian President.
