Baku-APAEmployees at Lisbon's bus operator Carris staged a 24-hour strike on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The Federation of Transport and Communications Unions said a protest would take place against the privatization of Carris on Wednesday, which will see protesters march from Cais Sodre in downtown Lisbon to the Ministry of Economy.

Several protests have already taken place this year against the sale of the state-owned company and deteriorating work conditions.

Carris is included in Portugal's privatization list, as part of a 78 billion euros (83.78 billion U.S. dollars) deal the country signed in 2011 with international lenders when it was on the verge of bankruptcy.
