Ganja. Azer Mammadli – APA. As part of his visit to the western region, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta has paid a visit to the Goygol regional base of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA).

The ambassador was familiarized there with the means used to clear unexploded mines, APA’s western bureau reported. Elnur Gasimov, Head of ANAMA’s Training, Survey and Quality Assurance Group, then held a presentation on activities of the training base. It was said that 26 different trainings have been organized in the base that has been functioning for about a decade. Along with Azerbaijani deminers, the trainings were also joined by experts from Georgia, Afghanistan and Central Asia. 
 
Note that, Ambassador Cekuta headed to the western region on Tuesday. The diplomat has visited historical monuments in Ganja as well as places of interest. 
 
According to the embassy, his first visit to regions has started with Ganja. The diplomat is scheduled to have a meeting with the Ganja City Executive Authority head and will then visit the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University and a residential area settled by IDPs.
