U.S. Capitol locked down after shots fired, police say

Baku-APA. U.S. Capitol Police said Saturday that shots have been fired on the West Front of the Capitol Building, and that the suspected shooter "has been neutralized", APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The police also said that the U.S. Capitol Building has been locked down as a precautionary measure.

The Capitol Police were also investigating a suspicious package found on the lower West Terrace of the building.

Speculation on social media Twitter suggested, the shooter was a protester holding a sign "Tax the 1 percent." Some witnesses said he shot himself, which has not been confirmed by authorities.
