Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. A Russian trawler sank in icy seas off Russia's far eastern Kamchatka peninsula on Thursday, killing at least 56 of the 132 crew.

63 people were rescued after 12-hour search and rescue operations as Russian trawler sinks, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

Rescued persons are in critical condition. 13 people were still unaccounted for, hours after the Dalniy Vostok fishing vessel sank in the Sea of Okhotsk so quickly that its captain, who drowned, did not manage to send a distress signal. The trawler was carrying 78 Russians and 54 foreign nationals.

7 of the crew members were Azerbaijanis. 4 of them were rescued.
