The issue of maintaining the previous contracts for supply of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems by Russia and Iran or signing of new ones will be resolved by the deal participants, Russia’s presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

In this case, if required, the issue related to the contracts will be resolved or discussed directly by the deal participants, Peskov told reporters.

He added that after signing of a corresponding decree by Russian president, there are no restrictions on this issue from the legal point of view, RIA Novosti reported.

He was answering the question whether new contracts on S-300 should be signed or the previous ones are sufficient.

However, Peskov didn’t answer the question about the possible timeframe for supply of the weaponry.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to lift the ban on the supply of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Iran.

"The decree lifts the ban on transit of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems through the territory of the Russian Federation (as well as by air), their transportation from the territory of the Russian Federation to the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as their transfer to the Islamic Republic of Iran outside the Russian Federation by using ships and aircraft under the state flag of the Russian Federation," the message from Kremlin press service said.

The decree entered into force on the date of signing. The document amends the presidential decree of September 22, 2010 "On measures to implement the UN Security Council Resolution 1929 of June 9, 2010". The subparagraph on the S-300 is excluded from it.
