Azerbaijani court sentences Intigam Aliyev to imprisonment

A court in Azerbaijan sentenced the head of the Azerbaijani Legal Education Society, Intigam Aliyev to seven years and six months of imprisonment.

On Apr. 22, the Baku Court of Grave Crimes held a hearing on Intigam Aliyev’s case.

Earlier, during the trial, prosecutor requested to sentence him to 10 years in prison.

He was arrested on Aug. 8, 2014 and is charged under articles 213.1 (tax evasion), 308.2 (abuse of power) and 192.2 (illegal entrepreneurship) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
