Iranian Army Commander Ahmad Reza Pourdastan has said that on April 15, the Army will introduce new weapons and other war machines.

One of these is a wheeled tank which will be unveiled for the first time in the country, Pourdastan said in a press conference ahead of the Army Day in Iran, Fars news agency reported April 12.

He explained that the tank uses a 90-milimeter canon and is operated by four people.

A 4x4 armed robot, which can carry two missiles and 600 kilograms loads, will also be introduced, he further stated.

The anti-chopper, anti-armor 23mm rifle, as well as a superlight, tracked vehicle which can travel at 100 kmph on uneven roads and 130 kmph on gravel roads are the other products to be unveiled, he added.

The commander also said that the Army used suicide drones in a recent series of exercises held in southeastern Iran.

He added that the drones are planned to be equipped with missile and rocket in the future.

Iran has grown exceedingly independent in making its own defense systems.

Under international pressure, Islamic Republic tapped domestic capabilities to produce various radar systems, missiles, tanks, watercraft, and other defense equipment, causing growing concern by neighbors. However, Tehran insists that its military program is entirely defensive and would rather serve regional peace.
